Amrit Stein

Amrit Stein learned ballet and modern dance from childhood on. In 1980 she met Rohini Bhate, one of the foremost Kathak masters in India, and since then has been dedicated to the art of Kathak. At present, she continues her Kathak training under the guidance of Kumudini Lakhia in Ahmedabad. Amrit Stein has given various performances in Japan, Europe and India to wide public acclaim for her command of the complete technique of Kathak, expressive abhinaya, boldly innovative choreography and the subtle blending of Indian and Western styles in her creative endeavours. Amrit is also a student of the great hatha yoga master B.K.S.Iyengar and is the co-director of the Iyengar Yoga Institute Munich, where she conducts the Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training. She is the author of a book on Kathak, published by Windpferd Edition as well as a CD featuring music for Kathak dance.
