Based in Ilford, Essex, Nrityakala Dance Creations provide students of all ages with all levels of training in theory and technique, whereby all classes are intensively combined with a subtle blend of Yoga, Kallari Payattu stretching exercises and classical Bharatanatyam in its traditional form. The aim is to guide all students' personal growth, enabling them to progress in technique, artistry and creativity. Established in 2003, Nrityakala provides a comprehensive curriculum in the classical art form of Bharatanatyam based on technical principles and quality instruction for graduating and recreational students from diverse backgrounds. The school is branched out in South Kensington, London, Walthamstow, East London and just recently in Ilford, Essex where the beginner's classes are regularly held every saturday and sunday. Equipped with the latest design of a fully mirrored dance studio as well as changing rooms, Nrityakala is ideally situated at Gymactive in Ilford. Nrityakala emphasises adherence to the classicism of Bharatanatyam with a subtle blend of Dance Yoga, ensuring training with a strong foundation firmly rooted in Hindu tradition, history as well as culture. Beginners who join the school first complete a preliminary induction year followed by a three years' course that trains students in both the practical and theoretical aspects required for the appropriate presentation of Bharatanatyam. Beginners classes are available for all age groups. Generally all classes are on an hour and half basis. Additional hours of training are at the discretion of the teacher and availability of the dance studio. Nrityakala Dance Creations is founded by artistic director Minakshi Ajay to promote and preserve the ancient art of Bharatanatyam. A highly organized and capable teacher, trained inYoga and Bharata Natyam, Minakshi has performed for several organisations and continues to perform solo as well as with her students on a regular basis.
